Affordable Bluetooth sniffer, Michael Ossmann's Ubertooth One
June 3, 2011
I pledged $30 to get Ubertooth One PCBs from Michael Ossmann’s Kickstarter campaign.
The PCBs arrived in the mail recently. The build process is straightforward if you’ve soldered surface mount devices previously, which I haven’t.
So now I need to order the parts and practice SMD soldering!
I figure I can practice on my Waveshield and GoodFET boards, and then I should have sufficient skills to build my own affordable Bluetooth sniffer!
I hope to come back at some point at document why the Ubertooth One is technically novel. In short, it uses a serial data dump port to guess bluetooth addresses, it’s a novel form of software defined radio. If you’re interested in more details, leave me a comment or contact me.
